In this process the house and garden are assessed for their strong points, for the areas which need attention and for the potential of the site to deliver what the client is asking for. The soil is analysed, as is the amount of shade in the garden both during the summer and winter. The different ground levels identified in the survey are considered in relation to what can be achieved in re-designing the garden. In the case shown below there was considerable scope to make the garden both more private and intimate while opening it up to the view of the valley to the east.        Back The site is analysed for its potential
